Sweet Sixteen

I guess it's about time I updated. Especially considering today is my sixteenth birthday. That's right, sixteen. Sweet sixteen and never been kissed. Though I don't fully understand why that's such a big deal. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Christmas was wonderful. Got to see all the fam, and replenished my wardrobe. I actually have new clothes. Thanks to the other O's for that! And my mom found these really sweet antique books that she gave me for Christmas. I love collecting them, and she found an old copy of Tennyson's poems, and a first edition novel by Rupert Hughes, I think. Really neat stuff. I got some CDs, a couple DVDs, and an iTunes gift card - music! Can't live without music.

Today was great. All of Mom's fam came to celebrate, and I got some really cool gifts. A backpack with my name embroidered on it and some movie gift certificates from Uncle Steve and co. Duffel bag and magazine subscription from Auntie Kim and fam. My gramma cross-stitched a picture for me - a girl reading on a porch. It's beautiful. Sam gave me a little voucher thing for season 3 of Reba on DVD. And Mom and Dad gave me a number of things. An electronic Sudoku game, a quilted wall-hanging that my mom made, and more money towards the bookcase that was my gift last year. And from my dad's parents, who passed away when I was really young, I got a set of silverware. Not necessary something that excites many people, but it's kind of a family heirloom. All the pieces have my last initial engraved at the end of the handle. I was so surprised when I opened it. My parents had always told me that the silverware set was mine, but I didn't know that I was getting it today. I almost cried.

Friday was so much fun. Stephie, I wish you could have been there. We watched She's the Man - most hilarious movie EVER - twice, I think. And then Kaeli and I watched The Italian Job while Gabe and Hailey were sleeping. Hailey and I watched The Princess Bride after Gabe and Kaeli had gone home. My mom made dinner and breakfast for all of us. And when my uncle called to talk to my dad, Kaeli told him off for not remembering that it was my birthday this weekend. That was hilarious. I love my friends.

Thanks to everyone for everything. I love all of you!
